Bohemians striker Josh Harpur is set to join Serie A side Como on a three-year contract, with an initial fee of €250,000 payable upon passing his medical. The 17-year-old Cavan native turned 17 on the Thursday before the report and becomes the latest Irish teenager to make the move to Como, following in the footsteps of Liam Kerrigan and Naz Raji, who have since moved on to new ventures.
The understood €250,000 initial fee represents a significant return for Bohemians on a product of their academy, especially considering Harpur only signed his first professional contract with the club in December of the year before the report. His debut came at just 15 years old, and he has since established himself as a prolific Ireland U17 striker. Alan Reynolds, Harpur's manager at Bohemians, praised his attributes: "Josh is a really good finisher. He’s a big lad, and really fit and strong for his age." Reynolds also noted his mentality: "He’s a proper attacking centre-forward, who wants to score goals."
Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history last season, edging out Juventus to secure their place. They were drawn in a Champions League group that includes Manchester United, with the draw taking place on the Thursday before the report. Their home ground, the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, has a capacity of 13,000 and has undergone recent refurbishment. Harpur’s arrival adds to Como’s growing Irish contingent, though Kerrigan and Raji are no longer at the club.
Bohemians currently sit 3rd in the Premier Division with 50 points from 29 games (14W-8D-7L), claiming a goal difference of +16 from 50 scored and 34 conceded. They are on a five-game winning run (WWWWW), most recently defeating Sligo Rovers 3-0 on 2026-08-28, and trail league leaders Shamrock Rovers by 4 points. Their next fixture is an away clash with Shamrock Rovers on 2026-09-04. Supporters can track the team’s progress via our standings page and look ahead to upcoming games on the fixtures page.
The move shows Bohemians’ continued ability to develop and sell young talent, with Harpur’s transfer reflecting the club’s growing reputation as a pathway to European football. For now, the focus remains on maintaining their push for the title as they prepare for the key September fixture against Shamrock Rovers.
