Paul Walters is gaining valuable experience overseas while on loan to Bohemian FC in the League of Ireland Premier Division. The 22-year-old FC Cincinnati Academy graduate won the starting goalkeeper role for Bohs in early June 2026 and has since played in all league and European competition matches.

In his first seven appearances for Bohemian FC, Paul Walters kept five clean sheets. His performances earned praise from manager Alan Reynolds, who tweeted his support on June 22, 2026. Walters also gave his first interview as a Bohemian FC player in front of a live audience on June 25, 2026.

Walters spoke about his goals for the loan in an interview in January 2026 before departing: "The goal with this loan is to go and earn minutes, earn the right to play, and then just play at a senior level, in a new environment, an uncomfortable environment, and try to win that spot." He added: "I think it’s important to go into this just trying to be yourself and be willing to learn."

Bohemian FC finished third in the League of Ireland Premier Division in the 2026 season, qualifying for UEFA Conference League Qualification. Walters helped the club reach the Third Round of that competition. As of August 29, 2026, Bohemians sit third in the Premier Division with 50 points from 29 games (14W-8D-7L), four points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. The team is on a five-game winning run, most recently defeating Sligo Rovers 3-0 on August 28, and faces Shamrock Rovers away on September 4.

Paul Walters' loan to Bohemian FC was set to expire at the end of the season in November 2026. At the time of the article's publication on August 26, 2026, Bohemian FC had played 28 games with eight remaining. Walters, a product of the FC Cincinnati academy, had previously trained with Hoffenheim in Germany and had a short-term loan to USL side Hartford Athletic, with earlier discussions about potential Scandinavian loans in 2025.
